Technology has given us all the ability to connect with so many people quickly & easily. But as the Covid Crisis has proven the quality of that connection is not guaranteed to satisfy our human needs as is evidenced by so many people struggling with mental health issues. In business it is also an urgent need as we note with the Great Resignation with people leaving jobs, the like of which has never been seen before?
No matter how many followers we have, it does not guarantee satisfaction or an experience of our words/message being heard. Receptivity towards others and their needs is one of the most important skills to possess if you are aiming for authentic engagement with others.
Big media now uses interruption advertising as a punishment and if you want to read their posts you must pay a subscription fee to stop or minimize that particular form of punishment. Its cost either way and show me someone who loves to be interrupted by advertising?
In Silicon Valley over the years, I noted that when startups are funded the first thing they do is throw money at marketing companies instead of focusing on developing their message (PRODUCT)? Its a crazy setup. Can another company engage with your audience better than you can? Are they as passionate about what you are doing as you are? Do they truly know what your values are? what is most important to you? If a marketing company truly engages with executives in your business then hopefully they will be able to share your message (product) to others. But how many even take the time to do that?
I, for one, am indiscriminately daily bombarded by email blurbs from global marketing companies due to the business I built for FinTech Silicon Valley. The key to my business success with all video & audio interviews & past events has always been authentic engagement with people. The value that is added is from the heart and with passion! It can’t really be packaged but it can definitely be learnt & refined & of course encouraged! If there is authentic engagement with clients then there can be authentic engagement with their audience. But it is definitely not a given! Quality has been thrown away for Quantity and Substance!
Throwing verbiage at the wall to see what sticks is just not Skillful Means and Creativity is lost!
